A speeding driver has been fined £100 and handed penalty points after being caught speeding through a village near Malmesbury.

Three other drivers were issued speed awareness courses after speeding through Little Somerford on Monday, April 29.

The fastest driver was going 44mph in a 30 zone, which is a speed watch area.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Our Speed Enforcement Team carried out a session on 29/04/2024 in Little Somerford – The Hill and four vehicles have been issued with notices of intended prosecution for excessive speeding.

“The roads monitored are 30mph and the fastest vehicle was captured at 44mph.

“Depending on previous convictions and history: three drivers will be offered a speed awareness course. One driver will face £100 fine and get three points.

“Proceedings will now be undertaken to ensure the most appropriate outcome for the offenders takes place, which includes checking for MOT, insurance and point totters.

“Captured footage will be analysed for other offences like seat belts and mobile phone use".
