CHILDREN at Snapdragons Broadwood Nursery in Corsham were visited by a special guest on Friday as Ted’s Big Day Out came to town.
The 24 youngsters from the pre-school and baby and toddler groups were joined by Big Ted himself for the annual teddy toddle, in support of the Royal United Hospital’s Forever Friends Appeal.
They donned hats and wigs while selling cakes to raise funds for the appeal.
Deputy manager Jo Miller said: “It was good to see Big Ted, the kids really liked it. We got out to do the toddle in the morning but the weather wasn’t in our favour in the afternoon, so we stayed in.
“We’ve taken part in the Big Day Out before, but this is the first time Ted’s come to visit us. Some of the children were a little scared when he first arrived, but most of them really enjoyed it, and we raised about £40 through donations and our cake sale.”
The annual appeal is raising funds for a new cancer care centre at the hospital, to balance clinical expertise with a nurturing and therapeutic environment.
