Wiltshire Council is calling for county residents to comment on a new Countryside Access Improvement Plan (CAIP).

The project focuses on how the council hopes to marry local rights of way and preferences with how it can meet future needs of the public.

It looks at how local rights of way can be used for exercise and outdoor activities, and accessibility improved for people with disabilities.

Although the guidance focuses on rights of way, it also states that improvements to other rural routes and areas which allow people to access the countryside need to be considered.

The CAIP outlines the actions Wiltshire Council will take to manage, improve and promote the countryside access network, which includes public rights of way in both rural and urban areas, permissive paths, cycleways, towpaths, parks and forests.

People have until March 28 to offer their comments.
