Calne sisters Janet Prictor and Christine Lilley celebrated the opening of their new hair and beauty salon Pamplemousse in Church Street this week.

Calne’s town mayor Mercy Baggs attended the opening on Tuesday along with Lady Lansdowne, who popped in for a quick haircut.

The sisters, who opened Pamplemousse at St Mary’s Courtyard in June 2012, relocated around the corner to a larger building that was occupied by Masquerade Shoes.

As well as a hair salon, there will be enough space to provide beauty treatments, including make-up, acrylic nails, Gelish nails, pedicures, manicures and massages.

Ms Prictor, who will take on four new members of staff, said the new salon will be three times the size of the old one and would help cater for an expanding customer base.

She said: “We really want coming to Pamplemousse to be a comfortable, pleasurable experience and we realised in order to do that we had to move into a larger premises.

“It’s great for our customers to have somewhere that does hair and beauty under the same roof.

“I think they enjoy the atmosphere in the salon because we all get on really well. I think a lot of people relax when they come and the products we use, we have selected these purely for quality.”
