A baking June saw the hottest day of the year so far, with the warmest average temperatures recorded since 2006.
Amateur weatherman Geoff Witts recorded a scorching 27.7 degrees at his Steeple Ashton home on June 23, with temperatures consistently rising above 20 degrees throughout the month.
His figures show it was also the driest June in 14 years, with 19 out of 30 days registering no rainfall at all.
