Party In The Park, King George V playing field, Melksham. Saturday, July 12, 1pm.
Melksham's Party in the Park will be looking back over its greatest hits this weekend, as the annual concert welcomes back some of its most popular acts.
Now in its 15th year, the event will feature many artists who have impressed the organisers at past shows, alongside some of the town’s rising young talent.
The day runs from 1pm-11pm with a break at 5pm for the town’s carnival procession, and will see acts performing on the main stage, and in a separate public arena.
Tribute band ABBA Arrival, the Ray Jones Band and the DeciBelles will all be returning to perform, alongside Trowbridge calypso star Antigua Joe and local teen singers Izzy Felstead and Courtney Buchanan.
Publicity organiser and compere Bruce Burry said: ““Everyone seems excited about ABBA Arrival, who have got a really good name. We had an ABBA band about three years ago and we got the most people through the gates, and with ABBA’s 40th anniversary and our 15th we thought it would be a good fit.
“There’s also former Pan’s People star Dee Dee Wilde and her dancers; she contacted us about performing and we thought she would be popular.”
All-day tickets, which include a wristband to leave for the carnival procession, are £4 for adults or £2 for 11-15-year-olds on the gate.
Mr Burry said: “We’ll have stalls dotted around, and different rides and plenty of things to eat and drink, with fireworks at the end. It is a family day and it’s getting bigger. The more people come, the more takings, and that all goes back into the bands.”
