MORE than 100 people turned out to an initial meeting in Wanborough on Monday to discuss the village’s future development.

The parish council is working with locals to create a neighbourhood plan by 2015 to control where developments in the village take place.

Chairman of Wanborough Parish Council, Gary Sumner, is now urging residents to have their say and engage with the project.

He said: “It went really well, there was a wide range of people who came along as well.

“I do think we will need to engage some more younger people who also should have a say in how the village develops.

“It’s an important project to engage with because it will affect the future of the village and there needs to be things put in place to meet everybody’s needs.”

Although residents cannot change the volume of development they will be expected to have, as that is determined by Swindon Council, they do have a say on where and in what capacity the developments take shape.

The neighbourhood plan will set out how to protect and enhance local facilities and employment.
