POLICE are appealing for a specific witness to come forward following an assault which took place in Swindon.

The incident occurred on Friday July 4 at the Number 8 bus stop on Fleming Way, Swindon at approximately 9.15pm.

A man and a woman were having an altercation at the bus stop which resulted in the woman being assaulted.

A female member of the public intervened having seen the incident.

Concerned for the safety of the victim, the member of the public then accompanied the woman back to the couple's home in West Swindon.

She then helped the woman collect property belonging to the male involved and handing it to him before he left.

Following police enquiries, a 30 year old man from Swindon has been arrested on suspicion of assault and sending a communication conveying an offence message. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Wiltshire Police are keen to locate the member of the public who assisted the female victim in this case.

Unfortunately, there is no description of this woman, but she is urged to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.

Also, any other witnesses to the assault at the bus stop are also asked to make contact with Wiltshire Police.
