British Transport Police are investigating an attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old boy on Sunday at Westbury railway station.

The boy said two men in a white van attempted to get him into their vehicle at about 4.37pm.

Officers are urging anyone who knows of any similar recent incidents, particularly in the Westbury area, to contact them on 101.

In a letter circulated to primary schools in the area, BTP said: “We would encourage all schools to remain vigilant in light of the incident and to ensure that their children are aware of the dangers.

“Please call 999 if a crime is in progress, or when a person’s safety could be at risk.”
