Students at the Trowbridge campus of Wiltshire College are looking forward to their future careers, after celebrating their achievements at an end-of-year awards ceremony at The Arc Theatre, Trowbridge.

The event recognised the academic success, determination to succeed, commitment to the community and outstanding progress of students, as chosen by the staff.

More than 100 people attended the event, including college governors and VIPs such as the chairman of governors for Wiltshire College Helen Birchen- ough, mayor Glyn Bridges and Wiltshire College director of Trowbridge campus Karen O’Connell.

Cllr Richard Gamble, portfolio holder for schools, skills and youth at Wiltshire Council, presented 43 awards to the students, while special guest, motivational speaker Farren Drury, gave a talk about achieving success.

Acting principal Amanda Burnside said: “The ceremonies are a highlight; it is always a great pleasure to be able to recognise the achievements of students.

“All those who have been recognised should be very proud of their awards,we wish them every success in future.”

Among the winners was Hannah Sheppard, 19, from Bradford on Avon, who won Best Overall Student award in Caring across the Lifespan Level 1; Jonathan Lofthouse, 31, from Devizes, who won the Most Improved Student in Access to Higher Education award and Sam Locke, 19, from Frome, who won Best Overall Student award in IT Level 3.
