Pupils from Trowbridge primary and secondary schools presented the results of a First World War research project at a service in St James’ Church last Sunday.

Eight schools in the town took part in the project with the church and the support of local historians Richard Broadhead and Steve Williams.

The pupils investigated the lives and families of soldiers whose names are on the war memorial in the park and created artwork and writing.

Teachers, parents and pupils attended the service before the mayor of Trowbridge, Glyn Bridges, selected four works to show during the Trowbridge Civic Service on August 3.

The Rev Rob Thomas of St James’ Church said he was “blown away” at the quality of the work done by the pupils.

The primary schools involved were Oasis Academy Longmeadow, Paxcroft, Larkrise, West Ashton and Bellefield. The secondary schools were St Augustine’s, Clarendon Academy and John of Gaunt.
