BUSINESSES in the town centre took their friendly rivalry to the next level when they raised £875 at a football tournament in aid of Prospect Hospice.

Twelve teams representing several stores including McDonald’s, Tesco, Costa and Starbucks, took to the pitches at Royal Wootton Bassett Rugby Club on July 20 at the day-long derby organised by inSwindon.

After a hard-fought final which saw Mcdonald’s and inSwindon come head to head, the fast food chain was crowned ultimate champion.

Grant Hesketh, street team member at inSwindon, said: “We raised £875 for the Prospect Hospice. We had chosen the hospice as it is a fantastic local charity that offers such amazing and dedicated support for those involved in end-of-life care.

“Twelve teams took to the pitches for a day of football, resulting in McDonalds beating inSwindon in the final, who were crowned overall winners of the tournament.

“During the day, we also had fun for all the family available with a raffle including over 50 prizes, a homemade cake stall and a BBQ.

“There are many people to thank for helping to make the day such a great success, including Wootton Bassett Rugby Club for their fantastic venue.”
