A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after two adjoining barns containing 200 tonnes of hay and straw were set on fire.
Firefighters were called to Tor Farm at Kington St Michael just after 8pm on Monday.
Crews from Chippenham and Corsham, a water carrier from Royal Wootton Basset and an operational support unit from Swindon were needed to bring the fire under control.
Two units remained there until 1.45pm yesterday as the buildings continued to smoulder for 17 hours.
A 28-year-old man from the village was arrested in the early hours of yesterday and has been released on bail.
