St John’s Marlborough sixth form student Emily Palmer, 16, is running an online auction throughout October to raise money for Sands - the stillbirth and neonatal death charity.

The auction has over 20 items, all donated by local businesses, and Emily is hoping to raise £500.

Anyone can bid in the auction when it opens on 1 October, and details of all the lots can be seen on the auction website www.oscarsfundcharityauction.moonfruit.com

The auction runs from tomorrow to Monday, October 27.

High bids will be updated daily, and winners will be contacted at the end of the auction.

Emily said: "We have created Oscar's Fund in memory of my nephew, Oscar Angus Rennie, who was sadly stillborn, the twin brother to Claudia Ava Rennie born prematurely on 20 July 2014 at 31 weeks.

"I wanted raise money for Sands after their tremendous support following the 20th July 2014.

"Sands operates throughout the UK, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.”

Emily is studying for the International Baccalaureate Diploma at St John’s and her fundraising efforts will form a part of her final qualification, as all IB Students get involved in community service activities as part of the CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) element of the diploma.

Dr Leslie Spencer, IB Coordinator at St John’s, said: "Emily is a great example of an IB student.

"She is involved in a wide range of activities in addition to her academic studies and this is a wonderful fundraising project for a very worthwhile cause”.
