EastEnders star Lucy Benjamin was the life and soul of the party when she visited Rowde to help the George and Dragon pub celebrate its tenth anniversary.

Miss Benjamin, who became friends with pub owners Phil and Michelle Hale and Chippy Day during a charity event several years ago, took the role of quiz master during the evening and joined in the dancing.

Mr Hale said: “If you think how loud and bubbly her character Lisa Fowler was in EastEnders and multiply that by ten then you have Lucy.

“We had a fantastic evening. We have really enjoyed our ten years in Rowde. For us coming out of London it was great to come to a place like this where we can be part of the community.”

The pub has two AA rosettes and is well known for its fish dishes.
