LIVE readings from The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, plus live window displays took place at The Gate in Havelock Square last weekend.
Between 11.30am and 2.30pm, the shop held the first live window displays in Swindon, and volunteers and customers took part as live models. The Gate, which was celebrating its first birthday, sells furniture, toys, clothing and home accessories to raise money for Gateway Furniture, a Swindon-based charity that gives essential furniture and white goods to families who need it most.
It also gives an average of 1,000 books away for free each month, in conjunction with the charity Healthy Planet.
Dawn Prosser, who runs The Gate and Gateway Furniture, said: βIn the last year the project has provided furniture and households to almost 500 households in Swindon and supported over 140 volunteers, many of whom have since found work.β
