A SWINDON group which helps children develop through singing and playing musical instruments is to mark its sixth birthday with a party.

And its owner will have a very special reason to celebrate.

Chrissie Rolls, owner of Musical Minis Swindon, is celebrating six years of running classes this summer by throwing a big party for children.

The mother of two, who runs the classes with the help of her own mum Anne, is marking the day with an unusually large event after she had to miss out on the traditional fifth birthday celebrations last year while she was recovering from an operation.

She vowed to have a party when she returned to full strength .

Now she will host the event on August 10 at the Haydon Centre, Haydon Wick.

The festivities will run from 10am until 11am.

Chrissie said she was hoping youngsters who had attended classes throughout the group’s six-year history would go along.

“I am delighted that so many children have passed through Musical Minis,” she said. “And that parents have chosen to give their child’s early development such a great boost.”

“I’m really looking forward to welcoming old and new friends to our party in August “And I hope to see lots of happy faces there for an hour of fun for all.”

The party is open to all, not just those who currently attend the classes and attractions will include a bouncy castle and cake.

All money received on the day, including the £5-a-child entrance fee, will go to SANDS – the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity.

The Musical Minis classes are designed for children from birth to five.

They aim to enhance their cognitive, physical and social development through the singing of traditional songs and nursery rhymes and the playing of basic musical instruments.

Nearly 500 local children have benefitted from attending Musical Minis at Haydon Wick over the past six years.
