ACCLAIMED piano duet Berendina Cook and Matthew Stanley will be performing in Marlborough to raise money for Mayor Margaret Rose’s chosen charity.
It is taking place at St Peter's Church in the High Street next Sunday (September 13) and the recital starts at 7.30pm with the funds going towards the Brain Tumour Charity.
Ms Cook and her husband Graham Norton became involved with the Brain Tumour Charity when their 14-year-old son, Michael, died a year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
She is well-known for her music abilities and graduated with honours in music from Royal Holloway College and gained her licentiate from the Royal College of Music. After working as a civil servant, she returned to music, teaching at the Royal Grammar School in Guildford.
Mr Stanley is visiting lecturer in performance, accompanist and piano teacher at Royal Holloway, University of London.
They will be performing music from a late Mozart Sonata, Rondo by Schubert to Petite Suite by Debussy and Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin.
Tickets are £10 and can be bought at the White Horse Bookshop, Henry George or Sound Knowledge in Marlborough town centre, or from the Town Mayor: margaretrrose@hotmail.co.uk (01672) 515500.
Donations to the Brain Tumour Charity can also be made via councillor Rose’s Just Giving page at: justgiving.com/margaret-rose1
