LOYAL volunteers and helpers for Macmillan Cancer Support have been praised for their fundraising and treated to a celebration tea at Marlborough Fire Station.

They gathered on Wednesday evening at the station in The Parade, so the Macmillan regional fundraising staff can say thank you to those who have raised vital funds for the charity.

Some of those present have over 45 years service such as Ena Lewis, secretary of the Swindon fundraising committee.

The event was hosted by members of the fire station crew, led by station officer Wayne Presley, who also presented a cheque to the charity for £1,000 which they raised during the Marlborough International Jazz Festival in July.

Elaine Bovey Macmillan’s head of regional fundraising for the South West said “We are so very grateful to the Marlborough Fire Station crew for not only hosting this important event for us, but also for their fabulous donation, their support is much appreciated and will help towards us reaching more people in the community.

“Our fundraising groups and volunteers are so essential to our efforts right across the country, here in Wiltshire I am indebted to the fantastic support our people have put in over the years.”
