A RACING stables has moved from Sutton Veny over fears the chicken factory which could be built in the village will harm the horses' health.

Flat race operation Horses First Training was based in The Beeches, near to where the factory might be built, but has now moved to Danebury in Hampshire.

Chief trainer Jeremy Gask said: “It was a pre-emptive move. It’s very disappointing to have left Sutton Veny but in light of what’s going on, it had to happen.

“The dust from the factory would have caused significant problems for the horses. Their respiratory systems are key to their performance and the dust would have impacted them massively.

“Some of our clients were starting to worry about it more and more so we couldn't afford to go on any longer. Once something starts impacting the business, it’s time to leave.

“The factory will impact everyone’s day-to-day life if it is approved, from the smell to the noise to the increase in traffic, it will be very unpleasant to be around.”

A meeting to decide the planning application for the factory was due to take place at County Hall on Wednesday (April 27), but has been postponed by Wiltshire Council, with no reason provided.
