A RESTAURANT supervisor at a renowned Wiltshire hotel has been banned from
driving for a year and a half after being caught at the wheel more than twice over the drink-drive limit.
Dumitru Stanciu, of Elmer Close, Malmesbury, pleaded guilty to drink-driving at North West Wiltshire
Magistrates’ Court in Chippenham on Thursday, November 24.
The court heard how the 29-year-old, who is originally from Romania, was seen swerving his VW Polo along Gloucester Road at 3.20am on October 10 by police when he was driving to Tetbury to drop his brother home.
He was stopped by police and blew a reading of 82 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when the legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Stanciu, who works as a restaurant supervisor at the Manor House Hotel in Castle Combe, was given a ban from driving for 18 months and
also ordered to pay a fine of £350.
He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £35.
