Wiltshire Olympic swimmer Grant Turner will be guest of honour at a fundraising evening in Devizes held by the Bag4Sport Foundation and Devizes Lions.

Mr Turner, who finished fifth in the final of the 100 metres breast stroke at the London games and is now training for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, will give the audience an insight into top level sport.

He grew up in Swindon, went to school in Purton and is based at Loughborough University.

He is also an ambassador for Bag4Sport Foundation, which raises funds for grass root sport and up and coming athletes who receive little or no Government funding.

He will be joined in the ballroom of The Bear Hotel on January 28 by comedian Rod Woodward and master of ceremonies Roger Dakin.

Tickets cost £55 each, which includes a three course meal and wine.

Bag4Sport Foundation has a number of other fundraising events in 2014.

They start with a Fitness Fun Fiesta on January 18 in the Corn Exchange, Devizes, held between 9am and noon.

The charity’s annual 24-hour spin-a-thon will then be held at Route2Fitness on February 8 and 9.
