WILTSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses after a spate of thefts of ‘cats’ – catalytic converters – from vehicles in Swindon.

Three thefts have been reported in the last week – all in the Stratton area of the town.

The first theft took place from 4.30pm on December 23 to midday on Christmas Eve in Griffiths Close, Lower Stratton. The second was from 10pm on Boxing Day to 12.15pm on December 27 in Keats Crescent, Upper Stratton.

The third theft took place from 3.30pm on December 27 to 9.30am on December 28 in Derwent Drive, Upper Stratton.

All vehicles involved were large 4X4 models.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in any of these three locations or in the Stratton area during any of the times.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.

A catalytic converter is a vehicle emissions control device that converts toxic pollutants in exhaust gas to reduce their toxicity.
