A MELKSHAM firm formed in 2011 has proved it is off to a flying start after winning a prestigious national award.

Bowerhill-based Tinc, which sells and designs personalised stationery, was named product business of the year at the 2013 Startups Awards at London’s Kensington Roof Gardens on December 6.

Organised by Startups.co.uk, the awards recognise the success of Britain’s newest businesses which have been trading for less than three years.

Now in its tenth year, the award organisers pride themselves on being the first place to recognise top emerging businesses, and expect this year’s winners to continue that tradition, with innovative start-ups scooping the top prizes.

Director of Tinc Jos Baker said: “We are a very small team and everyone has worked extremely hard to get to this point; we look forward to opening more shops next year as well as increasing our international distribution.”

David Lester, founder of Startups.co.uk, said: “As one in three start-up businesses don’t make it beyond the first year of trading, we are proud to recognise those that negotiate these early hurdles at the Startups Awards.

“We are delighted to continue to discover pioneering new businesses, proving that British innovation is thriving.”
