The Major Wrecks dance troupe showed off its moves at a charity fitness fiesta on Saturday.

The group joined fellow member and Devizes mayor Pete Smith at the fun event held at Corn Exchange, Devizes, in aid of the Bag4Sport Foundation.

Mr Smith looked more conservative than other members of the troop as he was in a suit and tie rather than the customary garters and short skirts that have made the male majorette group famous throughout the South West.

But the formal attire did not stop him from joining in the three hours of fitness classes led by instructors from Route2Fitness Gym, Devizes.

Bag4Sport Foundation director Andy Trusler said: “It was all great fun and we are very grateful to the Major Wrecks and the mayor for joining in. It was a good way for us to raise some money for grass roots sports and to let the people of Wiltshire realise fitness can be enjoyable.”

The charity’s next fundraising event is a sportsman’s dinner at The Bear Hotel on Tuesday.

A 24 hour spin-a-thon will be held at Route2Fitness on the Hopton Industrial Estate on the weekend of February 8 and 9.
