Chippenham schoolgirl Charlotte Acton is flying high after becoming one of Britain’s youngest ever solo glider pilots.
Charlotte, 14, who is a pupil at Abbeyfield School, completed her flight at Bannerdown Gliding Club after she trained with the school’s gliding club.
Abbeyfield teacher Jon Pickering said: “It was a fantastic achievement for Charlotte and the school gliding club.”
She received a bursary towards her training and is working towards her bronze badge.
Another pupil Aiden Jones has completed his bronze badge for ground school work, which involved navigation, air law and knowing safe places to land.
He will complete the flying part of his bronze award when weather permits and will then work towards his silver badge.
Teenagers Andrew Pauffley and Alex Bartlam are battling it out between them to see who will be the first to go solo.
