Operations manager Phil Hawkins has been awarded an Afghanistan campaign medal for his support for front-line operations Mr Hawkins, 50, is based at Defence Support Group in Warminster and deployed to Afghanistan for six months last year to run the Equipment Redeployment Hub Forward (ERHF) facility.
The ERHF is a hub and receipt point for vehicle and main equipment. Mr Hawkins was instrumental in setting it up in Camp Bastion to ensure equipment is accounted for and returned to the UK.
He said: “I was in the Army for 33 years so I have quite a fair few medals.”
“I enjoyed it (Camp Bastion). I have done lots of different things.”
Mr Hawkins is now operations manager for the Herrick Exchange Point – responsible for managing the flow of vehicles and equipment sent back to the UK from the ERHF.
