A record-breaking results day at John Bentley in Calne has helped to boost the school’s position in this year’s league table.
The school was ranked 22nd within Wiltshire for its GCSE scores and 60 per cent of pupils gained five or more A* to C grades at GCSE including English and maths.
It also scored higher for its A-level scores, gaining 13th place within Wiltshire.
Pupils taking their GCSE exams collected an average of 520.3 points and pupils taking their A-Levels collected an average of 763.3 points.
School principal Laura Carleton said: “We were all over the moon and delighted that our students' efforts and hard work were rewarded with some stunning exam results.
“It really has been a fantastic year for the students. In last summer’s GCSE examinations, 60 per cent of our year 11 students achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and Maths, representing the best ever results in the school’s history.
“Results such as these do not just happen, but are the culmination of five years hard work, not only by the students themselves, but also by their teachers, and with the support and encouragement of their parents and families.
“We know that our current year 11 pupils are working tremendously hard to repeat last year's performance and we all have extremely high hopes for them in this summer’s examinations.”
