Former world heavyweight boxing champion Tim Witherspoon will be appearing at Prestbury Sports Bar in Warminster on Easter Sunday as part of his tour of England.

The American, who was a sparring partner for Muhammad Ali and was nicknamed “Terrible” Tim, held the WBC and WBA World Heavyweight Championship titles during his career.

He won the vacant WBC title after beating Greg Page on points in March 1984, but lost it again months later against Pinklon Thomas in a majority decision.

In 1986, Witherspoon earned a match against reigning WBA champion Tony Tubbs, who he beat over 15 rounds in a majority decision.

His second reign as a Heavyweight champion saw him travel to London and retain his title against Frank Bruno in front of 60,000 fans.

Witherspoon will give a speech, conduct a question and answer session and be available for photographs and autographs.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 6pm on April 20, cost £10 and are available from the bar.
