Students who volunteer to teach people how to use computers are urging those struggling to get to grips with new technology to come to a free club.

Since it was launched a year ago by Wiltshire Council, the computer club at Devizes library, in Sheep Street, has helped 40 people learn the basics of computers.

More than 30 sixth formers at Devizes School have volunteered at the club after school each Monday.

Kieren Cox, 17, said: “I was offered the opportunity by the head of business studies and thought it was a good opportunity to help people and a really good thing to do.

"I have a good understanding of the internet and computers and I like to help other people. I have found it really satisfying.

One person who was helped said: “I have been met with such understanding, patience and courteous behaviour from the young people from Devizes School who volunteered to help us.”

The computer club is open between 3.30pm and 5pm on Mondays at Devizes library.

People can bring their own laptops, tablets or smart phones and get one-to-one support.
