Devizes school children got to grips with some very large bugs when the area primary schools science cluster met up for a Year Two science fair at Southbroom Infants School, Devizes, just before Easter.

Teacher Ed O’Reilly said: “It was so popular that we had to do it on two consecutive weeks to fit the seven schools involved in.

“Investigations ranged from questions about Borneo stick insects and tiger-striped hissing cockroaches to examining different types of animal heart.

“Perhaps the most notable thing was how children were able to quickly drop any shyness with children from other schools. Curiosity resulted in many new friends.”
