Police enquiries are continuing after the driver of a blue MG ZR Rover ran away from them after a dramatic crash in Anchor Road, Calne.

The driver hit a metal railing on the narrow road, just before 6pm on Sunday, April 27, causing his car to tip to one side leaving two wheels on the metal railing and two wheels on the ground.

The incident was reported to police by local residents who hurried out of their houses to check if the man needed an ambulance after hearing a loud bang.

But when officers appeared the man ran away abandoning his car.

They are still appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information should call 101 quoting crime reference number 54140038518 and ask for PCSO Mark Cook or PC Stuart Welch.
