A BURST main at the Regent Circus building site has left about 50 properties without water

Engineers from Thames Water are at the scene and are waiting for a hairdresser to finish washing chemicals from customers' hair before starting to fix the problem.

They will then shut off the water supply which will effect about 27 properties going up Eastcott Hill, who will not have water due to a lack of pressure.

Those who are currently without water should see their supply return.

As the leak is off the road, traffic is unlikely to be affected.

A spokeswoman for the company said: “We’re really sorry to customers affected by our burst main. Engineers are on site and about to close off the supply of water to the pipe so that they can dig down and start a repair.

"Twenty seven properties will be without water while we fix the pipe, however the majority of customers who contacted us this afternoon and living up the hill will find that their pressure and water supply will return very shortly after we close off this burst section of pipe.”
