Youngsters have a good day out at Swindon Laser Quest raising cash for Calm charity

YOUNGSTERS had fun while raising money for the Children’s Cancer And Leukaemia Movement (Calm) at a special Laser Quest event.

Laser Quest in Shaw Ridge put on an evening for the families of children who have suffered from leukaemia at a special rate of £5 for several games.

All the money collected by Laser Quest – exceeding £200 – was then donated to the charity.

Richard Crowley, chairman of Calm, was inspired to organise the evening by his 11-year-old son, Andrew, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2003.

Richard said: “My son Andrew absolutely loves Laser Quest, he likes to play two or three times a week so it seemed like a good idea.

“We first got in touch with them when we were looking for raffle prizes, and they suggested that we could put on a fundraising evening.

“It was about three things: the kids having a good time, the parents having that chance to have a cup of coffee and speak to other parents who had been through similar situations, and it was an opportunity to fundraise, and we raised £200 and it’s not a lot of money but it will help.

“All in all it was a positive evening and a big thanks to Laser Quest.”
