MELKSHAM dinner lady Ollie Gerrish gave pupils at Aloeric School a shock last week when she turned up with bright pink hair.
The mother-of-two, who also works part-time at the town’s Asda store, had the makeover to celebrate the fifth anniversary of her 12-year-old daughter’s remission from leukaemia, and to raise funds for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
Her daughter Tamara attends Melksham Oak Community School.
Mrs Gerrish said: “My husband did the Barcelona Banger Rally in 2008 and raised nearly £6,000, and my parents have raised money too.
“Now she’s at the five-year mark, which means there is a 99 per cent chance it won’t come back, I thought it’s my turn.”
