FOLLOWING recent comments by Simon Stevens, Chief Executive of NHS England, about providing more care in the community, Wiltshire residents have an opportunity to learn more about how this new model will be delivered in their county.
Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group is currently consulting on its five year plan which sets out how more care can be provided at home or in the community while ensuring that there is fair and equal access to services across the county.
Managers, GPs and clinicians from the CCG have been talking to a wide range of organisations and community groups to gain feedback and opinion on the plans. In addition, there are also a series of public meetings.
The first took place in Marlborough on Thursday morning but there are three more opportunities for local people to come and discuss the future of healthcare in the county. The nearest event to Swindon will take place on Monday, June 16 from 7pm to 9pm in The Wessex Room, The Corn Exchange, Devizes.
Dr Stephen Rowlands, chairman of Wiltshire CCG, said: “The next five years will be a period of change for healthcare services in Wiltshire. Our Five Year Plan is all about supporting people to live healthy, independent lives in their own homes and communities.”
