Wiltshire Police have confirmed that the man found seriously injured near to St Stephen's Place car park in Trowbridge today has died.

Police were called to the multi-storey car park at 1pm today and the man, said to be in his 40s, was taken to the Royal United Hospital, Bath, by ambulance. 

The man's injuries were consistent with a fall and police believe he may have jumped from the car park.

He died at about 3.30pm and police, who believe they know his identity, are in the process of informing the next of kin.

Formal identification will take place later.

Sgt Jim Suter said: "We are not seeking anyone else in relation to this death.

"However, we would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area between midday and 1pm today and might have seen or spoken to this man."

The car park was re-opened at 4.30pm for local people to get parked cars.
