It’s almost 40 years since the release of the The Rocky Horror Picture Show but still it attracts an international cult following.
This was all too evident in Devizes when, as part of the festival, it was shown at the Palace Cinema, and drew fans from various parts of the country, including London, Essex and, locally, from Swindon, Melksham and Pewsey as well as Devizes, of course.
Wherever the film is shown, audiences are treated to the brilliant sight of fans dressing up as characters from the film.
Devizes was treated to this phenomenon as many of the crowd donned their costumes to create the right atmosphere for the evening.
To add to this, during the showing there was some very active audience participation, including joining in or supplementing the dialogue in the film, as well as jumping to their feet to dance along to the legendary Time Warp number.
It was a brilliant evening and well done to all those who took part. The rowdy applause and hoots at the end was for them as well as for the film itself. And well done to the festival for programming such a fun event.
