Regulars at the Rose and Crown in Worton will take on a sponsored walk for Salisbury District Hospital.

A total of 21 people answered landlord Keith Green’s call to take part in the Walk for Wards, an event organised by the hospital’s Stars Appeal.

Most will take a route of 10km, but a handful will take on the 3km trek around the Wilton Estate in Salisbury this Sunday.

The age range of the walkers is 50 to 75 and Mr Green, who is 51, said: “Salisbury is our local hospital and it’s got a good reputation.

“In the last year, my mother and stepfather have had a lot of treatment there and some of those doing the walk have been there.

“The village also has a Link scheme, which takes people to the hospital, and we thought it would be good to give something back.”

His wife, Margaret, is unable to join in, after breaking a bone in her back while horse riding.

Mr Green has so far got £230 in pledges. Donate at www.justgiving.com/ roseandcrownworton
