Wiltshire Air Ambulance flew a male cyclist to the Royal United Hospital, Bath, today after he was involved in an accident with a red Peugeot car in Westbury.

The accident happened just after 2pm on Link Road, near the roundabout in Hawkridge Road.

Staff from nearby company The Formative Group rushed out to help when they saw the cyclist on the pavement.

All company staff had been trained in first aid and were able to make him comfortable for the time it took for the air ambulance to arrive.

They also provided help to the driver, who was badly shaken.

An air ambulance spokesman tweeted that they had assisted a South West Ambulance Service crew to treat the cyclist at the scene and he was flown to hospital in eight minutes.
