Walkers from Worton raised £1,885 for Salisbury District Hospital’s Stars Appeal charity.

Twenty people, who are customers and staff at the Rose and Crown pub in Worton, completed the Walk for Wards sponsored walk around the grounds of the Wilton Estate in Salisbury on June 22.

Rose and Crown landlord Keith Green, who took part, thanked everyone who took part and those who sponsored them.

It was a record breaking event with 1,600 people undertaking a 10km or 3km walk and the amount of money raised was £80,000.

Having raised £650,000 for a second CT scanner during 2013, the Stars Appeal is now raising funds for a number of new projects.

These include continuing to provide accommodation for the parents of sick children and babies, social interaction and stimulating creative activities for older patients, additional therapies for people undergoing cancer treatment, recreational activities for spinal unit patients and state of the art diagnostic equipment for cardiac care.
