It was a trip down memory lane for Wiltshire Air Ambulance paramedic Ross Culligan, when the charity was presented with a cheque for £4,500 by a Calne school.

Mr Culligan, an old boy of St Margaret’s Preparatory School was one of three representatives from the air ambulance charity who attended the school’s prizegiving on Friday. During the morning headteacher Karen Cordon gave the cheque to Mr Culligan, communications and digital media co-ordinator Aña Exton and fundraising manager Rebecca de la Bédoyère.

Miss Exton said: “The school raised a fantastic amount of money. We had no idea it was going to be so much. Thanks to all the children, parents and staff.

“It was lovely for Ross to go back. We saw a photograph of him when he was a pupil and he hasn’t changed a bit.”

The air ambulance is the school’s charity of the year. It raised money through events, including a Christmas fair, mufti day and sponsored walk.

Mrs Cordon said: “We are very pleased to be able to support the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, which does such a fantastic job helping to save lives in the county.”
