Beer lovers who did not drink quite as much as they expected in Devizes on Saturday are the toast of the town’s opportunity centre.

Every unused token handed in to organisers of the Devizes Beer Festival, which was a sell-out success, goes towards our Give Us A Chance appeal.

Don Jones, chairman of Devizes CAMRA, said: “I got to know about the work of Devizes Opportunity Centre when I was mayor a few years ago and we have all been following the stories in the Gazette, so it seemed like a very worthwhile cause.

“The tokens are worth 20p each and we will donate the value of whatever is returned. It is usually somewhere between £400 and £500.”

A total of 65 different beers and ciders were on offer at the festival with musical entertainment from Devizes Town Band, acoustic songwriter Ben Cipolla, folk rock band Rovin Crowes, Clare in the Cmmunity, acoustic blues from Babajack, reggae band Troy Ellis and country/punk band Bleedin Noses.

Beer festival report and pictures to follow at and in Thursday's Gazette and Herald.
