EASTCOTT Community Organisation hosts Our Big Gig at Savernake Street Social Hall this weekend.
The free community music festival, on Sunday from 2-7pm, will be part of hundreds of free music festivals being held across the country.
There will be activities for all ages and musical abilities, including an opportunity to make music using household items, a chance to try bellydancing and have a go on a ukulele, and local folk band Splat The Rat will be performing.
Community event organiser Anna Smart of Eastcott Community Organisation said: “People can join in activities if they like, or just come and listen.”
Across the country, Our Big Gig is expected to attract audiences of more than 200,000 to free events designed to promote wellbeing and bring together communities through music. Two thousand volunteers will help to host 177 performances, workshops and communal events.
Our Big Gig is an Inspired by 2012 project which aims to keep the legacy of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics alive by bringing communities together.
Our Big Gig is organised by Superact, a not-for-profit organisation which uses participatory arts and music to deliver social impact projects nationally and internationally.
