It may only be July but in Royal Wootton Bassett plans are already underway to make this year the best Christmas ever.
Members of Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council have already been in touch with the staff at Longleat to order the Christmas tree, which will stand in the High Street in mid-December.
A spokesman for the town council said: “We get the trees from Longleat and we have to order them at about this time of year and let them know what tree they want.
“This is because there is a lot of preparation involved before we get the tree, and because Longleat gets so busy they need to know in plenty of time which tree we want.”
Despite being only halfway through the year, the town council has also already started planning this year’s Christmas lights and shopping event, which will take place on December 5.
From 6pm to 9pm, residents will be able to parade the High Street and enjoy the Christmas wares on offer while taking part in a variety of different street activities.
