Scores of mourners say final farewell to young Devizes mum

Friends and family of inspirational mum Natasha Goode turned out in force in Devizes today to say their final goodbyes.

Scores of people who knew Mrs Goode, 28, who died at home just two weeks after marrying her husband Stewart at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, wanted to join her family in a celebration of her life at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.

Mrs Goode, nee Barkham, of Silverlands, Rowde, who has a son Tyler, nine, died of cancer on June 23. She had been diagnosed with lymphoma in August last year and she and Stewart were engaged just a few weeks after she was told about her illness.

The wedding was brought forward after her condition deteriorated.

Mr Goode, who works at Screwfix in Devizes, said shortly after her death: “I just feel blessed, privileged and honoured to have known Natasha.

“She was so brave and caring for everybody. She was a fantastic mum, wife, friend, confidante and daughter.

“She was an inspiration. No matter how hard life gets, never give up.

“She was bubbly and had a smile to die for.”

Many people who shared his love for Natasha were at the Roman Catholic church at St Joseph’s Place, Devizes this morning to say their goodbyes.

A wake is being held at The Crown pub in New Park Street this afternoon.

Undertaker Paul McDonald of John Stuart funeral directors said: “A lot of people wanted to pay their respects.”
