IT may have finished two years ago but the spirit of the London Olympics will live on in and around Malmesbury this summer with local people encouraged to take part in a string of free sports related events.
PHEW – Participation, Health, Exercise and Wellbeing – aims to tap into the energy and fun of the 2012 Games by giving people a chance to have a go at something new.
Beginning as an idea in Oaksey it now covers the entire Malmesbury area and will see activities including sailing, longbow archery, sports sessions, six-a-side football, horse riding, guided walks and boules laid on between July and September .
PHEW is being run by Malmesbury and the Villages Community Area Partnership which works to improve the local environment, promote healthy living, and to encourage public involvement in local decision making and community safety.
A list of events is at legacymalmesbury.org.uk
