Trowbridge and Wiltshire councillor Jeff Osborn he is concerned about the future of Studley Green Youth Club, after equipment was removed from the Studley Green Community Centre.
Wiltshire Council’s youth service moved the equipment for storage at Court Mills in Polebarn Road, Trowbridge, as the council is no longer hiring the building as part of its new community model.
The budget cuts, announced in May, mean the responsibility for the organisation of youth services will be put onto local communities through their area boards from October.
However, Cllr Osborn said he has been contacted by residents in Studley Green who are worried about the future of youth services in the area.
He said: “No one knows what is going on and there is a worry about what is going to happen in the future.”
Kevin Sweeney, area manager for Wiltshire Council’s Youth Service, said that the equipment will be stored at Court Mills until there is a clear picture of ‘who is delivering what where’.
