EDEN Vale Road in Westbury has been hit by a spate of crime, with four incidents being reported to police within the space of one week.

Damage was caused to the engine of a small digger which had been left outside Bright Stars Nursery between 4pm on Friday, January 6 and 8.30am on Monday, January 9.

On Sunday, January 8, a group of five youths were seen climbing onto the roof of a building in the Woodland Industrial Estate at around 5pm.

Later that evening, at around 8pm, more youths were spotted climbing onto the roof of a derelict property further down the road, where it is believed they caused damage.

More recently, at 3.30pm on Thursday, January 14, a group of youths were seen smashing bottles in the road and then became abusive, swearing at passers-by.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “It is important that children in particular are reminded of the dangers of playing on roofs of buildings, as well as trespassing, or entering derelict buildings.

“Often, these buildings are insecure and climbing on them could lead to serious injury. If you are a parent or guardian, please make sure your children are aware of the risks they take when climbing on buildings or entering those that are boarded up, and ensure you know where they are when out and about.”
