RYAN Aldridge believes he has finally found the right attacking blend and says his Swindon Wildcats players now have to ‘fight for their spots’.

The head coach appears to have settled on three lines with Aaron Nell banging in the goals on the top line while Czech star Jan Kostal does the same alongside Henri Sandvik on the second.

Nell was without injured linemate Jonas Hoog at the weekend but the Swede’s absence - as well as that of the suspended Ryan Watt on Saturday - seemed to make minimal difference as Swindon clocked up 13 goals during wins over Peterborough and Bracknell.

The thumping victories, which secured Swindon’s place in the top half of the EPL, delighted Aldridge.

“On Saturday we were missing two forwards (Hoog and Watt) and we managed to play the way we played, and on Sunday we were without Jonas and still ended up playing well,” he said.

“The boys have been phenomenal for the last three or four weeks. Guys have got to fight for their spots now because we’ve got two good lines that work together well and I’m not going to change that.

“Since I’ve put Jan and Henri together I think it’s raised Henri’s game no end, he’s doing phenomenal right now. He’s really looking after himself and he knows he’s playing well, so he needs to keep that going.

“Those two give you a chance to win every night and when Jonas and Aaron are on another line they give you a chance to win every night as well.

“Our third line is giving us energy and I think everyone’s playing well.

“Missing key players and still being able to score six goals (against Bracknell) and seven on Saturday (against Peterborough) was good.”
